Privacy Policy

Exactly what we collect, what we don't, and why — no vague promises.

1. Introduction

WhatsClaw ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains exactly how we handle information when you use the WhatsClaw Android app, its optional cloud dashboard, and this website.

2. What We Collect

Always collected (anonymous):

  • Crash reports — anonymous stack traces via Firebase Crashlytics to improve stability.
  • Usage analytics — anonymous feature-usage counts, never tied to your identity or message content.
  • Purchase confirmation — a token from Google Play confirming a successful purchase. We never see card details.

Collected only if you use the optional cloud dashboard, and only for eligible contacts:

WhatsClaw's optional Team Inbox, CRM and Analytics dashboard (app.whatsclaw.in) needs some message content to work. This is scoped on your device, before anything is uploaded:

  • A message from a number that is not already saved in your phone's Contacts — the normal shape of a new customer or lead reaching out — has its text and sender uploaded to your private cloud workspace, so your dashboard can show it to you.
  • A message from someone already saved in your phone's Contacts (family, friends, colleagues — anyone you already know personally) stays local-only and is never uploaded, unless you deliberately add a "lead" tag to that contact inside the app's CRM.
  • Which messenger app(s) are monitored at all — WhatsApp and/or WhatsApp Business — is a choice you make during setup. Nothing is read from an app you don't select, and you can change this any time in the app's settings.

We DO NOT collect:

  • Any message from a personal contact you haven't tagged as a lead
  • Anything from a messenger app you haven't selected for monitoring
  • Photos, videos, or any media files
  • Your location or device identifiers
  • Your WhatsApp account credentials

3. Android Accessibility Service & Notification Listener

WhatsClaw uses Android's Accessibility Service to automate sending messages you schedule or auto-reply with, and a Notification Listener to detect incoming messages so the app can auto-reply and keep your on-device CRM up to date. Both run entirely on your device. Whether an inbound message is then uploaded anywhere is governed entirely by the rules in Section 2 above — a message from a contact already saved in your phone, or from any messenger app you haven't selected, is never uploaded.

4. Third-Party Services

  • Firebase (Google) — crash reporting, anonymous analytics, account sign-in, and — only for messages that meet the Section 2 criteria — the database that powers the Team Inbox, CRM and Analytics dashboard.
  • Google Play Billing — handles all in-app purchases. We never receive your payment information.
  • AI providers (Gemini or OpenAI) — only if you turn on an AI-powered auto-reply feature, the incoming message text (for messages that already meet the Section 2 criteria) is sent to your configured provider to draft a reply.

5. Data Storage

Scheduled messages, auto-reply rules, templates, contacts/CRM, and settings are always stored locally on your device first. If you sign in and use the cloud dashboard, messages and contacts that meet the Section 2 sync criteria are additionally stored in your own private Firestore workspace. Anonymous analytics data is retained for up to 12 months then purged. Delete all local data via Android Settings > Apps > WhatsClaw > Clear Data, or request deletion of your cloud account data via the contact below.

6. Your Rights

You may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port data we hold. Email privacy@whatsclaw.in. We respond within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

WhatsClaw is not directed at children under 13. Contact privacy@whatsclaw.in to remove any such data.

8. Changes

Material changes are reflected by updating the date above. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance.
